Katy of Norfork Pilot Boat, 36"H

Over time scale models made by shipyards, architects and early factories during the industrial revolution acted as sales tools or as a 3-dimensional application to register a patent. Samuel Pepys, Lord of the British Admiralty in the 18th C. was one of the first who created a collection of models, now in the National Maritime Museum. The Katy of Norfolk sits graceful as a white-winged swan; guiding ships to safety.
